A Website Built Around the People Who Use It: Safe Spot’s New Online Home

When someone visits Safe Spot’s website, they may be looking for help for a child. They may want to understand what happens next, learn how to prevent abuse, or find a way to support the organization.
Those are very different reasons to arrive at the same website. Each deserves a clear next step.
That was the thinking behind our work with Safe Spot Child Advocacy Center of Wilkes. Their new website is now live at https://www.safespotwilkes.org/, and I’m proud of what our teams built together.
As a business based here in Wilkes County, this project meant something to us personally. Safe Spot serves children and families in the community we call home. We wanted their online presence to reflect the same care and purpose people experience through their work.
Starting with the people, then the pages
We began by considering who needed the website and what they needed from it.
Families needed understandable information about Safe Spot’s services and how to reach the team. Supporters needed straightforward ways to contribute. Community members needed prevention resources and information about programs. Board members and multidisciplinary partners needed organized access to the materials used in their work.
That shaped the structure of the site, from the main navigation to the individual resource sections. It also helped us keep the language focused on the visitor’s questions instead of the organization’s internal terminology.
The homepage brings that purpose forward immediately: every child deserves a safe place to be heard. The design supports that message with Safe Spot’s familiar colors, real photographs, and clear paths to contact the team or support its mission.
A team that made collaboration easy
What made this project such a pleasure was the Safe Spot team.
Cindy, Sierra, Cami, Jeremy, and their colleagues brought the knowledge that no website builder can supply on its own: how their organization actually works, what families ask, and which details their partners need to get right.
Their feedback was specific and practical. They helped us refine staff information, organize documents, clarify instructions, and make sure the wording reflected their day-to-day work. When a form needed replacing or a contact needed correcting, we had a clear direction.
That made the collaboration feel easy. Everyone understood what we were working toward, and each round of feedback helped us get closer.
It was a good reminder that clients don’t need to arrive with a finished website plan. They need a team willing to listen, ask useful questions, and turn their knowledge into something people can use.
Using VIBE to keep the work moving
We developed the site through GREENstick’s VIBE website-building process, using AI-assisted development alongside our team’s strategy, writing, design direction, and review.
That gave us a practical way to turn ideas into pages the Safe Spot team could see and respond to. We could work through changes to navigation, content, document organization, and page layouts with a shared point of reference.
The team could tell us what needed attention in the context of the website itself. We could make the changes and keep moving.
The technology helped us build. The collaboration helped us build the right thing.
Getting the everyday details right
Some of the most useful work was in details that won’t necessarily make a launch announcement.
Current forms needed to appear in the right categories. Meeting minutes needed clear titles. Contact details needed to point to the right people. The public website and partner areas needed to serve different needs.
The launch also came during Safe Spot’s move to 1907 West Park Drive in North Wilkesboro. Making the new physical and mailing address easy to find was another part of helping the website serve people accurately.
These details matter because someone will depend on them after the excitement of launch day has passed.
The message that made launch day
After the launch, Sierra Watson, Safe Spot’s Marketing & Development Coordinator, sent our team a message that included these words:
“I know we will better serve our community because of you all.”
That’s a meaningful thing to hear from a client, especially one doing this work in our own community.
Thank you to the Safe Spot team for trusting GREENstick, sharing your expertise, and making this such an enjoyable partnership. We’re grateful to have helped create an online home for the work you do every day.
Explore the new website at https://www.safespotwilkes.org/ and take a moment to learn about their mission and the ways you can support it.
